"Peace on earth will come to stay
When we live Christmas every day."

Living Christmas Everyday
by Fran Hafey/Mysti
I often ponder the idea of why people choose to do what they do during the Holidays. I understand tradition and holiday festivities and the meaning to it all, but why doesn't that loving, giving spirit stay all year long?
What can you do this year to keep the Christmas spirit in your life?
I see people giving to others and opening their hearts during the holiday season and going out of their way to help families who need and who wouldn't normally have much during this time.
What about the rest of the year?
The one main idea that sticks in my heart is that this love is needed everyday, all year round.
Why are people's hearts and wallets so much larger during this time of year?
I may not be able to give to everyone in monetary ways, but I know that I give in other ways and we all can. We could all stand to do a bit better and make this world a better place. With so much turmoil and confusion, wouldn't more peace and love be great?
There are many ways to help others.
A smile goes a long way, a nice gesture even farther. Saying hello and holding a door or helping someone out when they're stuck on the side of the road is just a nice thing to do.
How about sending people loving thoughts, even when they're rude to us? Why exchange a negative for a negative, why not shock some and just be nice and send love?
It's not always easy to be loving and have peace when others cut you off in traffic, butt in line in the store, are rude or do some of the horrible things we hear in the news.
I do my best to have patience. I don't want to be like the other person, or the "norm" as some would say.
I choose to be a light. I choose to smile and say hello, and to be polite. A little love goes a long way.
I may sense someone could use a "Hello, how are you today?" just to let them know they matter.
World peace is a big desire, that can be accomplished, but it needs to start much closer to home. It has to start right there in the center of your chest...yes...
in your heart
and then it needs to shine outward so all can see and feel its warmth.
Maybe one day, you may need that smile or hello, or "How are ya?" and someone might just be in the right place at the right time.
Spirit is always on time.
Take this New Year to "not" make another resolution, but to...
Try a bit harder...
Love a bit more...
and share your peace and light with others.
Let's live Christmas everyday and shine our light everywhere!
