Light the Candle in My Hand

As I turned my calendar today, starting a new month, I read the message that was there.

It said...

"When someone asks what there is to do, light the candle in their hand,"

written by Rumi a great writer and Spiritual teacher, a long time ago.

Today is no different. There is still a need, that we all work together to spread and share the light.

But what does that mean?

Does that mean we are to shove our beliefs down another person's throat or go door to door reading from a book to help others believe as we do?

Does it mean that we get angry and feel we are better than others because they believe differently? What about, thinking and saying hateful things because someone is different than us or doesn't believe the same as we do?

The light to me simply means, "sharing love". Letting the light of love cover all things so that we can all see the truth.

The truth, being, it's not about what Religion we are,

or what language we speak,

or the color of our skin,

how much money we make,

or where we live, work or play.

It's all about unconditional love and accepting others as they are.

That doesn't mean you have to like everything they do or how they are, but to just love them as another human being, living on this planet, existing in this universe, traveling their own journey on their own path to enlightenment and truth, and.... that's ok.

I let it be. I let it flow. No harm, no hate. I allow each day, each moment to teach me something.

I've learned that we cannot change people with words perhaps, but with love, light and example. Let there be unconditional love in our hearts and light in our souls.

My life is my light and when you ask me what there is to do...

I will light the candle in your hand.
