Hanging Out The Clothes
By Fran Hafey/Mysti

I truly love a sunny day when I have laundry to do.Well, I love the sunny day part the most, but I love hanging out the clothes. The fresh air blowing gently, touching each article of clothing or bed linen as they hang drying in the light. Oh, the smell and freshness is wonderful. When I lay my head down on the pillow and smell nature right there in my bed, I sleep much better.

I'm grateful for the washing machine, it does most of the work. I rarely use the electric dryer, I love to hang my clothes out on the clothesline. Not just because they smell nice and are crisp and clean, but because while I'm hanging the clothes and that's a time of meditation for me.

I like to hang them a certain way, but as I lift each clothespin I'm talking to Spirit/God, sometimes out loud and sometimes in my head from my heart.

I may remember things I need to do, or sing a song or whistle a tune that comes to me. I take pride in a job that helps my family and me. Such are the chores that most people don't pay much attention to anymore perhaps.

It's like washing the dishes...who does that anymore? But washing dishes is a chore that gives us time to think and meditate. We methodically wash each dish and may slip deep into thought. It gives me a good feeling when I'm doing these chores, usually, because I'm cleaning something, but also cleaning my spirit.

I am conversing from my higher self with Spirit/God, my guides, the angels and fairies. They like it when I feel good and when I am cleaning. <snicker> I wish I had more energy to do more of it, but even as I vacuum, my mind wonders into a state of being with myself, and my higher powers.

Maybe more people should try this method, because meditating doesn't have to be sitting crossed legged on a mat on the floor, <which would be hard for me to do anyway due to my joint issues> with incense burning and repeating Oms. That's nice to do now and then and really good for some folks, but for me, I like driving down a country road, sharing with Spirit and counting my blessings, maybe even singing along with the radio or just listening to the wind or the sounds of the tires on the road. I may have a lot on my mind and need to sort it out and with whom better than the energies are all around me. At least they pay attention, LOL.

It's not always easy to ask people to make time to discuss things they really aren't interested in. Our busy worlds need to slow down and even with gadgets made to help us with time organization, we just seem to not always make quality time for conversation or conversing with others.

I find myself enjoying my time of meditation and sharing with Spirit/God when I am hanging out the clothes and the breeze touches my face and I surely know that Spirit/God is all around me. Find time or make time today, to take pleasure in the little, simpler things in life and remember to be greatful.

Brightest Blessings Always,
  Fran/Mysti
