Quick Definition:
Enzymes are specialize living proteins fundamental to all living processes in the body, necessary for every chemical reaction and the normal activity of our organs, tissues, fluids, and cells. There are hundreds of thousands of these Nature's "workers." Enzymes enable the body to digest and assimilate food. There are special enzymes for digesting proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and plant fibers. Specifically, protease digests proteins, amylase digests carbohydrates, lipase digests fats, cellulase digests fiber, and disacchanidase digests sugars.

Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Health, Healing and Hope
I've searched for many years for a doctor that would truly listen to what my body was saying. Many times, we get so caught up in the pain and symptoms, that we tend to forget to look for the root of the problem. Illnesses don't just happen, they occur for a reason. There are many factors involved that we sometimes just over look. After many years of doing some of my own research, doctor after doctor, drug after drug, I went cold turkey, and started with the basics. Actually, I cut my meds in half and took, only what I had to have with my doctors help, then down to nothing.
I had and have swelling, painful joints, fatique, drug sensitivity, sensitivity to light and noise, pollen, headaches, sinus pain, skin problems, irritable bowel, menstruation and hormone problems, depression and constant infections. I was diagnosed with fibrocitis years ago, which then, was thought to be a form of "arthritis" or something very close to it and degenerative arthritis.
I started reading about Chronic Fatigue, but continuously, no doctor took me seriously about any of these problems. They would say it was my weight and that I needed to do this or that, and nothing worked. I was in misery and many times would cry, when the doctors just scoffed me off. I wasn't able to live my life to the fullest, because of pain and all the problems. I stopped taking what they wanted, pills and more pills, especially antibiotics. I finally found a doctor that was willing to work with me with some herbal remedies and for a while I was happy, until I got sick again, and went through the mill, test after test, when finally having no choice but go to the emergency room one night at our local hospital. They ran every test they could and found nothing, when the doctor came in and said they had one more test, but that so far they had found nothing, and did I think maybe it was all my imagination. My husband almost took a swing at him. They ran the last test, and they found a blood clot in my lung, a pulmonary embolism. They immediately started rushing around and the doctor changed his tune. They wanted me on blood thinning medicine, even after my seven day stay, but my liver reacted, so I am on a baby aspirin a day. I've been through a lot, let me tell ya. I do my own research and yes, when I need a doctor, if I am very, very ill, I go, but I cringe at the thought. The system is horrible and many doctors have lost sight of healing the person and not just the pain. I am a perfect example at how we can't and shouldn't be treated all the same. I found a doctor that is credited in many other areas, such as Homeopathic Medicine and treating the patient as a whole, not just in parts. Unfortunately, his type of medicine is not yet covered by insurance and I'm not able to go anymore. I have a new Family doctor and she's not too bad. She's treating me for Thyroid problems and water retention and healing the thyroid is my next step. <big smile>
Update and information on Thyroid , symptoms and how it can affect us is the way very soon!!
I was diagnosed with Manic Depressive Illness, (many years ago) Arthritis, Fibromyagia, and I have Thyroid and adrenal problems. I don't have a gallbladder, but...I help myself, and I treat myself. That is my right as a Educated Human being. I now reach out and try to help educate and give others hope too. Message me anytime for any reason. Mystiblu@hughes.net I will have some great sites here for you to read and learn so much more about what you can do to help yourself. We are not victims, unless we give away our power to the doctors and to our illnesses! We have the power to get better and to have less pain. That doesn't mean, at least for me, that I don't over do it or have flare ups now and then, because I do.
I use herbs as much as I can and eat a rounded amount of good foods and get lots of rest. (not as much as I should) I used to get a "Meyer's Cocktail" (see what a Meyers cocktail is below) once a week, for 4-6 weeks (not anymore due to insurance reasons) I also may have some food allergy problems, so I am eliminating some foods from my diet, one by one and some all together. Because of my gut issues, I like to drink Dan Active in the morning and sometimes at night, which has active cultures in it. There are different flavors too. Dan Active contains an active probiotic called L.casei immunitas and L. bulgaricus, calcium and other stuff that's good for our immune systems. The herbal supplements that work well for me are PB8, which is Acidolphulus, which helps me with infections and gut flora and is also a probiotic, garlic, which helps blood and infections, Energy Now, which is for thyroid and energy, Cinnamon for blood and Cardiac, Dandelion root to help with water retention, Vitamin E for hair and nails and Q-10 for cell regeneration. I try to take these everyday at different times to help my stomach not get too upset and I drink LOTS of water!
I also try to get to Pool/water Therapy, as often as I can, to help me exercise for now. I've had some set backs in the last couple of years because I developed "Adhesive Capsulitis" or frozen shoulder in my left arm and it really affected me all over. I had to go to Physical therapists and have so many tests done. I'm still working on regaining my strength back, dealing with the pain and the muscle loss. It takes time and has to be done fairly slow. Patience is a virtue, they say. <smile>
Please remember...
what works for me may not be best for you. Consult your doctor, Nutritionist or Homeopathic doctor. I may have been labeled once upon a time, with a name of a problem, but I am not so sure that was what was wrong with me at all back then. I try to stay away from labels, but sometimes we have to just have a name for something. I know I'm feeling better now, but still have my days, when I'm not feeling so great, but at least I know the odds and am much better at feeling better more of the time, now that I am controling alot more of what goes in my body and how I am treated.
Many blessings to you*
